Don't Live With Vein Disorders Any Longer

It is estimated that more than 80 million Americans suffer from some form of venous disorder. The most common venous disorders are spider and varicose veins. If left untreated, they can pose a serious health risk over time. However, just because a doctor or facility claims to be vein specialists, doesn’t mean that they have the appropriate training and equipment to treat these conditions safely and effectively. It is important that you do your research before proceeding.

Being aware of the advances in the industry and qualifications necessary for venous treatment is essential to ensuring you receive safe, effective results. There are many new technologies used which are painless, quick and require no vein stripping. Using these technologies in the qualified hands, you should experience rapid relief of symptoms. Today, all procedures can be performed in-office with local anesthesia and minimal downtime. There is no hospitalization required.

With all the choices available for the management of vein problems, one of the most important steps in seeking treatment is finding the right vein specialist. Here are a few tips you should look into when choosing who will perform your vein procedure:

• Board Certified – Board certified doctors are held to a higher standard as they have established a certain level of expertise within their chosen field.

• RVT or RPVI Certified – A Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation or Registered Vascular Technologist certification was developed for physicians who practice in a non-invasive vascular laboratory. This gives him the skills and knowledge to perform vascular ultrasound in the diagnosis of vein disease and accurately interpret the test results in the determination of most optimal treatment protocol. This ultrasound credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is considered the global standard.

• Board Certified Phlebologist – A medical specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases issued through the American Board of Phlebology. A significant part of a phlebologist's work is involved with spider and varicose veins in the legs.

The highly trained staff at Ciao Bella Vein Clinic uses the latest technology for treating all of your vein disorders. Take a Chance On You!

They say the only constant in life is change. Most people have a hard time with change, but life would be redundant and dull if we never took chances to change our lives. Whether it’s a seemingly easy thing like buying a lottery ticket or a big thing like quitting a job or starting a new relationship, taking chances in our life is the only way to make new and better things possible.

“It is easy to play it safe and never raise your hand. There is just one problem with that mentality. It is stupid! It doesn’t get you anywhere that you want to go. You can always work at a job you hate because it is safe, put your money in a CD that pays less than inflation because it is secure, and you can stay in a relationship with someone you don’t like just because it is familiar.

“Or, you can take a chance in life. Go after your dream job, seek better investments, get out of bad relationships and go after the things you really want in life! Life is so much better when you actually take chances.” http://www.shaunrosenberg.com/why-you-need-to-take-chances-in-life

So why is it so hard for people to take chances? Many people think that if they fail in taking a chance, they have failed in life. The reality of it is, you haven’t failed. Stop thinking like that! You have created a learning opportunity and experience to go forward and build on. “You only need to succeed once to start a new life for yourself. Think about that. If you are a singer, painter, actor…, it may seem difficult to get discovered. But you only need to get discovered once to change your life.http://www.shaunrosenberg.com/why-you-need-to-take-chances-in-life

There are no limits on the number of chances you get to take in life. “Don’t feel that by grabbing the best that life has to offer that you are depriving someone else. It doesn’t work that way. In fact, by not allowing yourself to have it all, you are reinforcing the limited thinking that keeps so many people from happiness and fulfillment. By creating an abundant life for yourself, you set an example for others to do the same.” http://www.choosing-life-my-way.com/have-it-all.html

Find other people to support you toward your goals and dreams, reminding you what your ultimate goals are. It may not always be easy, but the more chances taken, the more you will learn and grow and make it easier to create the life you want.

Do You Have Chronic Venous Disease?

Chronic venous disease of the legs is a common condition. In fact, approximately half of the U.S. population has venous disease – 50 to 55% of women and 40 to 45% of men. But just what is venous disease? When valves inside your veins which allow blood flow to the heart fail to function or the vein is damaged so the valves do not close completely, blood can begin to pool, flow backward and cause a variety of vein complications as pressure begins to form on the nerves from dilated veins. Spider veins and varicose veins are resulting symptoms of venous disease.

Risk factors include age, family history, female gender and pregnancy. In women, pregnancy, especially multiple pregnancies, is one of the most common factors accelerating the worsening of varicose veins. The single most important cause of vein disease is heredity. Approximately 70% of all patients with varicose veins have parents with the same condition. Other factors influencing vein disease are age, obesity and jobs which require long periods of standing. Generally vein disease can’t be prevented. If you have a family history of vein disease, there is nothing you can do to change your genes.

Many patients with vein disease experience cramping, aching, burning, itching, soreness or “tired” or “restless” legs, especially in the calf muscles. If you experience these symptoms, please come see us at Ciao Bella Vein Clinic where we specialize in diagnosing and treating venous disease. If you do have venous disease, depending on the type and stage of vein disease, there are many different treatment options. Most insurance carriers will even consider coverage for venous disease treatments, based on medical necessity for symptom relief.

It is important to treat venous disease, as varicose veins generally worsen over time. If left untreated, pain will increase and result in limitations in walking and cramps during sleeping. Visit our website for more information about venous disease and call us at (480) 686-8121 when you’re ready to schedule your initial consultation.

Spring Clean Yourself?

Its spring and that time of year when most of us want to clear out the cobwebs from winter and let the new beginning spring represents take root in our lives. As you’re cleaning the house for a fresh change, don’t forget some changes for your life too. So what can you do for yourself during spring cleaning? Here are a few ideas and some websites for more information:

Body: Take a look at what exercise you’ve been doing (or not doing). Change is good for your body, especially if you’ve been doing the same exercise routine. http://www.livestrong.com/slideshow/1001860-spring-clean-workout-routine-21-bad-habits-toss-today/

Health: As the weather changes, our eating should reflect the season. For spring, lighter, brighter, natural and fresh foods are best. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=faq&dbid=28 You may even want to go get a physical at your doctor if you haven’t been in a while.

Wardrobe: Go through your closet and put away darker, heavier items and make cooler, happy colors accessible. You may even want to use this as an opportunity to purchase new clothes. A shopping spree doesn’t have to be an expensive undertaking or cause storage issues. Take inventory of clothes you aren’t wearing. Rather than packing them away, decide what you may want to donate or sell. http://lambethenvironment.wordpress.com/2014/04/08/time-to-spring-clean-your-wardrobe-but-dont-just-bin-it/

Makeup: Not only does spring call for a lighter fresh-faced look, but it’s a good time to clean out the makeup drawer. Makeup doesn’t last forever! It’s important to know how long you can keep different types of makeup. Don’t use sponges longer than a month and don’t forget to clean your brushes. http://www.popsugar.com.au/beauty/How-Long-Can-You-Keep-Makeup-Guide-Makeup-Expiry-Dates-18977411

Ciao Bella Medical Spa and Vein Clinic can help you when you’re ready for cosmetic procedures to help your body reflect the way you feel, but for a spring cleaning of your appearance, focus on the areas to renew your appearance and attitude. Look forward to the opportunity. It will inevitably give your mind, body and spirit a chance to feel renewed.

Fear of Anesthesia

Everyone seems to have something about their image they would like to improve. It’s more and more commonplace to make use of cosmetic procedures as a way to improve our appearance, from simple in-office procedures to multiple major surgeries. There are many ways cosmetic surgery is used every day for treating, curing and correcting the effects of birth defects, abnormalities, moles, trauma, cancer, tumors, weight loss… the list goes on and on! And while there are many who don’t hesitate to get every conceivable nip, tuck and filler, there are those who genuinely need and desire to take the steps to improving their lives through surgical intervention, yet still remain wary and may even be afraid.

So what is there to be afraid of? There are a few common reasons which make people hesitant to change their lives through cosmetic surgery, but one of the major reasons is a fear of receiving anesthesia or “going under.” You’re not alone if you have this fear. According to the American Society of Anesthesiologists, “lack of understanding and apprehension about anesthesia may lead as many as one in four patients to postpone surgery… More than 75 percent of Vital Health Report respondents expressed concern about the use of anesthesia during surgery, yet this fear of anesthesia does not match actual patient experiences.”  http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/196720.php

Though a very real fear for many, these days the use of anesthesia in conjunction with a qualified Anesthesiologist and a qualified Plastic Surgeon who work together as a team, allow a patient to go under appropriate sedation so they are in no pain or discomfort. In fact, there are ways of doing anesthesia without the patient even requiring intubation, that is, tubes put down the patient's throat. In competent hands, Anesthesia is exceptionally safe.

Being worried about “going under” for an impending surgery is the last thing you need. At Ciao Bella Medical Spa, your health, comfort and safety is our number one goal. The best thing you can do if you are nervous about anesthesia is to talk to us about it. Our team is here every step of the way to ensure you receive the personalized care necessary to make your procedure a rewarding and satisfying experience. Our “total patient care” philosophy is reflected in the quality of our specialized services and the sincere dedication of our staff.
