Haven’t We Advanced Beyond Diet & Exercise Yet?

Nope. And to prove it, this month is recognized as National Nutrition Month! We here at Ciao Bella feel that goes hand in hand with our “total patient care” philosophy. Our highest priority is the health of our patients and your best health begins with diet and exercise.

National Nutrition Month is a campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of food choices and physical activity habits. One of their goals is encouraging everyone to “Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right.” In 2014, their focus is on combining taste and nutrition to create healthy meals that follow the 2010 Dietary Guidelines of Americans. Dr. Glenna McCollum, President of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, says “Enjoying the healthy foods we eat and the physical activities we engage in is key to developing a healthy lifestyle we can maintain for years to come.” So who doesn’t love to eat? We obviously can’t live without food! But it seems often times it’s the taste and enjoyment of food we desire that causes disconnect with healthy foods in many people’s minds. On their website, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has provided some healthful tips on enhancing the flavor of a healthy meal to “Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right.”  http://www.eatright.org/Public/content.aspx?id=6442479929
